Desert Equinox
The Desert Equinox began as a partnership between the Broken Hill Art Exchange (BHAE) and the Environmental Research Initiative for Art (ERIA) in 2012, and has since become a regular program of artist residencies, workshops and exhibitions run by BHAE.
Get excited for Desert Equinox 2025!
The aim of Desert Equinox 2025 is to present a suite of site-specific and site-responsive installations created and installed by local and visiting artists, that utilise cutting-edge off-grid solar and wind technologies at the Imperial Lakes site. The construction/installation process will itself become a performative act, unfolding in real time and space to culminate in a three-night event .
In 2025 we are planning to invite 20 artists including recent graduates from University of NSW together with six (6) local artists to install their works at LandCare's Imperial Lakes site and build a festival of sustainability over the Easter long weekend in 2025.
